Scriptures warn that the coming of the Lord will occur as it was in the days of Noah (Matthew 24:37-38) (Luke 17:26-27) and as it was in the days of Lot (Luke 17:28).

What exactly were the days of Noah like?  Genesis 6:5 gives great insight: “And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”  Further description is provided in verses 11 & 12: “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.  And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

The characteristics of this society were marked by great wickedness, corruption, evilness of heart and violence.  Whatever they imagined, they did in utter defiance against God.

And what about the days of Lot?  These days were filled with sexual perversion where mankind acted at their basest level in total disobedience to the God who made them.

Romans 1:18-32 guide us further to the depravity and corruption of mankind which resulted in God allowing mankind to go his own way. “God also gave them up to uncleanness…God gave them over to vile affections…God gave them over to a reprobate mind.”

And even amidst such wickedness, corruption, violence and carnality, life went on as usual: “they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;” (Luke 17:28) No problem here; everything is just fine! Who needs God?

They were totally oblivious to the coming judgment of God.  For those during the time of Noah, shortly after Noah entered the ark, “the flood came, and destroyed them all.” (Luke 17:27)

Similarly, judgement came during the days of Lot. “But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.” (Luke 17:29)

How devastatingly sad that these societies forsook God and His commandments!  They walked and conducted their lives in direct disobedience to Him.

As we progress through time, we observe once again a growing intensity in the evilness of mankind.  News from around the world reveals there is virtually no country that is exempt from vileness taking place.  Mass shootings, stabbings, machete fights, and gruesome killings highlight the headlines.  But it doesn’t stop there as armed robbery, car jackings, high speed chases, and teen takeovers become a norm for society.  Uprisings on the streets, rebellion and lawlessness have become the norm while those who are entrusted to uphold the law are vilified en masse.

Sexual immorality and perversion are rampant.  From very young ages, children are indoctrinated with the false notion that a boy can be a girl and a girl can be a boy.  The Daily Wire reported July 27, 2026, “Minnesota schools and hospitals will provide dolls with removable genitals to children as young as four in order to allow them to express their sexual identities.  MyGender Dolls were created by staff at the University of Minnesota, a publicly funded university. They are intended for use as an educational toy for children ages four through ten.”  How much viler does it get?

Children have already been introduced to drag queen story hour in the libraries, at farmer’s markets and other public venues.  Graphic books have been introduced to young children in schools and libraries and often appear on “recommended reading lists” designed to take a child’s imagination where it was never intended to go.  Yet, this is being done in the name of “academic freedom” and we’re told that “it’s in the best interest of the child.”  Woe to the parent who objects.  Such parents fall under the suspicion of “the system” and are threatened that they just might not be qualified to raise their own children.  It’s often been told to parents that unless they are affirming of their child’s aberrant choices, their child is at greater risk of suicide.  When in fact it is the divisive deviation from the immutable characteristics of being a boy or girl that causes confusion and despair of children.

Many in our country are fast accepting of the overthrow of law and order and to close prisons.  Many strive to establish shariah courts and open our nation’s borders for any and all regardless of criminal record or intent to overthrow our system of government.  To not do so is a display of “privilege” and a “gross violation of human rights.”  A growing number of candidates espouse viewpoints like these.  They gain popularity due to lawlessness combined with promises that everything in life will be free or greatly subsidized by the populace.

And just like the days of Noah and the days of Lot, our society goes on day after day eating and drinking, working, vacationing and being consumed by personal pleasure and entertainment.  Once again, the majority of mankind are oblivious that judgment is coming.

While the first universal judgment came by flooding, the next will come by fire.

And just as salvation was provided for those who entered through the one door of the ark, so salvation is made available only through Jesus who said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6) And as Luke wrote, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

It is critical for every person to heed the warning that there is a coming judgment to this earth.  We’ve been warned by the days of Noah and the days of Lot.  Our times are quite similar.  Don’t be deceived.  It’s imperative for each one to come to salvation solely through Jesus Christ!
