Welcome!
I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re talking about pop psychology again.
An article in The American Psychological Association revealed that 37% of Americans have been diagnosed with a mental health issue. With that many struggling with mental health problems, the church is rightly stepping up to meet the need — unfortunately, many church leaders are pointing people to pop psychology rather than the Scripture.
Author T. A. McMahon notes, the “humanistic cornerstone of self-love has become a new doctrine within evangelical Christianity, taught from many of the most popular pulpits. Sermons more often than not quote psychologists and teach their unbiblical psychological concepts for credibility.” (T.A. McMahon Quotes. christian-quotes.ochristian.com/T.A.-McMahon-Quotes)
Believers would do much better to point those struggling with depression, anxiety, and other such issues to Jesus. Ultimately, spiritual needs should be met with spiritual solutions.
Now what should a believer think about “preferred pronouns?” We’ll discuss that another time.
