WORLDVIEW: The Shroud of Turin (Part 5)

Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!

Finishing up our investigation into the Shroud of Turin, we are going to look at a stumbling block that scientists had concerning the reddish-color blood stains on the Shroud.

When blood oxidizes,  it dries nearly black.  This means that there’s no way the blood on the Shroud could be authentic since it is still reddish.

However, recent studies show that when a person suffers a massive trauma event, what’s actually coming out of their wounds upon death isn’t exactly blood.  When the body is drained of its blood supply, the heart extracts a substance known as bilirubin from the liver which is extremely high in Iron.

When bilirubin escapes a leaking wound, it creates a reddish-color stain that never changes.

This is a perfect explanation to how the nearly 2,000 year old reddish-colored blood on the Shroud of Turin still remains.
