In Daniel 9:26, What is the Meaning of the Word “Flood”?

Welcome to Prophecy Q & A with Jimmy DeYoung!

Daniel 9:26 “And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off but not for himself.” This is talking about crucifixion.  This is referring to the 483 years from the time the command was given (vv. 24-25) to go forth and rebuild the walls and the streets of the city (Nehemiah 2) … from the time that Messiah was cut off and the “prince” (one of the titles of the Antichrist) of the people shall come and destroy the city and the sanctuary.  “And the end thereof shall be with a flood and unto the end of the war and desolations are determined.” A natural flood rushes a large amount of water into a certain location. In this context, it deals with the armies of the Romans coming in, flooding the city of Jerusalem, destroying the Temple, devastating the city, and dispersing the Jews to the four corners of the earth.

Jimmy DeYoung was a prophecy teacher and journalist who travelled the country and the world educating the Body of Christ of the future events foretold in God’s prophetic Word. His goal was to equip Christians with the knowledge and understanding of what God’s Word says will happen someday soon, so that they can make better decisions today. Dr. DeYoung went home to be with his Savior on August 15, 2021.
