General William Howe – June 16, 1775

Experience the American dream with today’s Patriot of the Past interview. I’m your host, John Gillespie.

It’s June 16, 1775. I’m with British General William Howe, who has just finished directing the Battle of Bunker Hill.

JG: “General Howe, what do you think of the Yankee soldiers?”

WH: “Mr. Gillespie, we thought they would be cowards, but they fight with a fury and determination that I have never seen before. Your Yankee resolve killed or wounded over 1,000 of my loyal British troops during this battle.”

The Patriots showed the British that the Yankees were here to stay.
