Fast Facts: Cuttlefish – Part III

Carl Kerby

Welcome to Fast Facts with Reasons for Hope. I’m Carl Kerby.

Is it ever good to change who you are based on where you are? Well, not if you’re a Christian, but it’s a good thing if you’re a cuttlefish! Called “the chameleon of the sea” and a “master of disguise,” the cuttlefish has the fascinating ability to change its appearance, both for its own protection and for hunting its prey.

It can change color in an instant, even as it swims. This allows it to hide from its enemies right in the middle of the ocean. And, fact is, it can also control its texture and shape! It can appear either smooth or rough and can fade right into any backdrop. So, if you’re a cuttlefish, it’s good to change your colors based on the situation.

How wonderful to serve a God Who never changes!

There’s even more to say about His creation, the cuttlefish, next time here on Fast Facts with Reasons for Hope. Until then, stay bold!
