Mat Staver is the founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel an international nonprofit litigation, education and policy organization dedicated to advancing religious freedom, the sanctity of life and the family since 1989 by providing pro-bono representation.
Vic and Mat began this edition of Crosstalk with news regarding Usama Dakdok who is the host of Revealing the Truth About Islam heard on the VCY American Network weekdays at 12:30pm Central Time.
Usama had been invited to speak in Bagley, Minnesota, when suddenly his appearance was canceled after communication was brought forth to the superintendent of schools. On November 21, Liberty Counsel sent a letter to the Bagley school district and today they received a letter that was faxed from the attorney of the school district. Now the district is offering Usama multiple speaking dates through the end of July of 2014.
Mat noted that whenever you say that marriage, which is ontologically observable and part of the natural created order, can now be defined by two men or two women, you’ve simply deconstructed the institution and it’s no longer marriage. At that point you could also have other combinations such as a union of two men and a woman or two women and a man. At that point you’re dealing with polygamy and polyamory because the legal or logical dividing line to have marriage as the unique created institution that it has always been has been tossed aside.
Can we see the future for America in this regard? Mat mentioned the example of the Scandinavian countries of Norway, Sweden and Denmark, nations that have already been down this road. The result? People stop marrying and marriage becomes nothing. Women have children out of wedlock, men are not responsible to that relationship and eventually the whole family structure devolves.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear more from Vic and Mat on this issue as well as some very challenging questions from Crosstalk listeners.
