Welcome!
I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re talking about the importance of family time.
So, how much time does the average American family actually get together each day? The answer just might surprise you.
According to research cited by The New York Post, “American families get just 37 minutes of quality time together per day.” (Swns. “American Families Barely Spend Quality Time Together.” New York Post, 20 Mar. 2018, nypost.com/2018/03/20/american-families-barely-spend-quality-time-together.) That’s only thirty-seven minutes out of TWENTY-FOUR HOURS!
With that in mind, it makes sense that research done by Onepoll found that “seventy-three percent of American kids would like more opportunities to bond with their families.” (Good News Network, 14 Dec. 2020, www.goodnewsnetwork.org/73-of-kids-want-to-spend-more-time-with-their-parents-and-here-are-20-things-they-want-to-do) Family time’s not happening much these days, and kids are longing for it.
You see, God designed parents — not peers or social media or pop culture — to be the biggest influences in their children’s lives.
After all, Ephesians 6:4 tells fathers to “bring [their children] up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” — and that takes an investment of TIME.
Now, what else should believers know about family time? We’ll discuss that another time.
