Welcome!
Today, we’re talking about character.
Research done by the University of Scranton revealed that an incredible 92% of those who set goals for the New Year fail to achieve them. In other words, THEY GIVE UP!
PERSEVERING, in contrast, is the concept of pressing on despite the obstacles we encounter.
As a case in point, it’s estimated that Thomas Edison tried several thousand times to create a practically functional light bulb before succeeding. Edison reportedly said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Had Edison given up, we literally would be “in the dark.”
As believers, we should persevere in whatever God has called us to do, knowing we will be rewarded for our faithfulness in the end.
Galatians 6:9 says, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”(ESV)
And how else is character important? We’ll discuss that another time.
