Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!
Today, we’re talking about the positive influence of the Church.
Going to church is good for the soul – but did you know it’s also good for BLOOD PRESSURE?
According to the International Journal of Psychiatry in Medicine, “Religiously active older adults tend to have lower blood pressures than those who are less [religiously] active.” Interestingly, the study notes that “[t]his applies to attendance at religious services and private religious activities, but not to religious media.”
Hebrews 10:25 tells us not to “forsake the assembling of ourselves together” as believers because God knows the hardship of going through this life alone. Church gives us the opportunity to “bear one another’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2 NKJV) and support each other during difficult times. The result is not only spiritual refreshment but also relief from mental and emotional stress, resulting in the physical benefit of lower blood pressure.
Another question some ask is why polygamy was allowed in the Bible. We’ll discuss that another time.
