The Importance of Fathers in the Home (Part 2)

Welcome!

I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re talking about fathers in the home again.

Modern sitcoms portray fathers – if they’re even present – as incompetent, ignorant, and pretty much useless … but … research indicates that, in real life, fathers play a critical role in the development of children.

According to the National Center for Fathering, TWENTY MILLION American children don’t have a dad at home. So how does this reality affect kids? Well, the research speaks for itself: fatherless children represent 90% of all runaways and homeless children, 71% of substance abusers, 80% of those in psychiatric hospitals, 70% of those in juvenile detention facilities, and 70% of pregnant teens. And – on top of those sobering statistics – children who grow up without a dad are 44% more likely to live in poverty when they grow up.

More than ever, we need to realize the importance of God’s plan for a dad in the home.

And why else are fathers important in the home? We’ll discuss that another time.
