WORLDVIEW: Fatalism

Today, we’re talking about worldviews. “Que sera, sera, whatever will be, will be.” Those are lyrics to a popular song of yesteryear, but they’re also the mantra of fatalism. Fatalism is a worldview that says everything in life is predetermined by some mysterious outside force, and we can’t do anything about it. So, we should resign ourselves to just shrugging our shoulders and accepting whatever happens in life. Just think about how many times you’ve heard somebody say, “If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be.”

Well, truth is, we have a sovereign God who rules … and sometimes overrules … in the affairs of men. At the same time, He has given man personal responsibility to make choices that align with His will. As Job confessed to God, “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.”

And yet another false worldview is atheism, but we’ll discuss that another time. For more information, go to www.hopetools.net.  Stay bold!
