Scientists discovered that the deep-sea octopus Stauroteuthis syrtensis has bioluminescent suckers that emit blue-green light. The glow may attract small crustaceans that serve as prey in the dark ocean environment. Its light-producing ability appears closely linked to its feeding strategy.
