Where Does Isaiah 19:24-25 Fit into God Calling Egypt “My People?”

Welcome to Prophecy Q & A with Jimmy DeYoung!

There is an interesting phrase used in Isaiah 19 a number of times: Isaiah 19:18, 23, 24 – “In that day.” This is referring to the Day of the Lord, the time that the Lord comes back to this Earth and is ruling the Earth.  This is talking about the kingdom.

Isaiah 19:24-25 says, “In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land: Whom the Lord of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.”  Assyria, Egypt, and Israel will come together. Earlier in this passage you read about the king’s highway which is the way that these people will travel towards Jerusalem for the purpose of going up to worship the Lord. Isaiah 19:21 says, “And the Lord shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the Lord in that day, and shall do sacrifice and oblation: yea, they shall vow a vow unto the Lord, and perform it.”  They will know the Lord and will go up and speak the language of Canaan.

For example, Isaiah 19:18 & 19 say, “In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan (Hebrew), and swear to the Lord of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction. In that day shall there be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the Lord.” This is talking about all three of these nations after the Tribulation period in the time of the Millennial Kingdom. All of them will come to know the Lord because everybody has an opportunity to receive Christ after the terrible time of judgment except for two people: the Palestinian (the Edomites of many years ago) people and the Babylonians which would be the modern-day Iraqi people.

They will all come to know Christ, the Assyrians, Egyptians, and Israelis, and will all speak Hebrew. They will travel up the king’s highway and will go into Jerusalem for the purpose of worshiping the Lord.

Jimmy DeYoung was a prophecy teacher and journalist who travelled the country and the world educating the Body of Christ of the future events foretold in God’s prophetic Word. His goal was to equip Christians with the knowledge and understanding of what God’s Word says will happen someday soon, so that they can make better decisions today. Dr. DeYoung went home to be with his Savior on August 15, 2021.
