The next Temple, according to Daniel 9:27, Matthew 24:15, Revelation 11:1, and 2 Thessalonians 2:4 will be what is called the Tribulation Temple. The Rapture of the church is the next event to happen. Then begins a seven-year period of time which will be a time of terrible judgment on the earth. God gives (Revelation 5) the title deed to the earth to His Son, Jesus Christ.
That title deed, the Sealed Book, contains all 21 of the judgments that will unfold during this seven-year period of time. Those judgments are used to bring the earth and earth dwellers under submission, so that God the Father can give His Son, Jesus Christ, the Millennial Kingdom, in order to fulfill the Davidic Covenant when God promised King David that there would be a Temple on the Temple Mount and that one of his sons, Jesus Christ, would rule and reign from the Temple.
It was also a promise given to the Jewish people. Zechariah 6:12 says that Jesus will build the Temple. Zechariah 6:13 says that He will rule and reign from that Temple. This is the Millennial Temple or Messiah’s Temple described in Ezekiel 40-46 in great detail. Prior to that will be the Tribulation Temple. The Antichrist (Daniel 11:45) will allow the Jewish people to put up a Temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. When that happens, the sacrificial system will be reintroduced. In Daniel 9:27, “And he (the Antichrist) shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”
When the Temple is up, sacrifices begin once again. In the Millennial Temple in Ezekiel 45, the sacrifices will be for a memorial, thinking back to what Jesus Christ did. Sacrifices of animals never took away sin. They simply covered it or restored the relationship or fellowship between the Lord and His people. Everything is ready for the Tribulation Temple to be built at any moment. Only one thing must happen before … the Rapture of the church.
There will be two temples in the future: the Tribulation Temple and the Messiah’s Temple.
