When We Are Raptured, Will Our Flesh (Body) Fall Dead and Only Our Spirits Go to Meet Jesus?

Welcome to Prophecy Q & A with Jimmy DeYoung!

There are three parts to each of us, the body, the soul, and the spirit.

If a person who is a Christian dies before the Rapture of the church, then the soul and the spirit go immediately into the heavenlies (2 Corinthians 5:8 – “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”). Our bodies, if we die before the Rapture, go into the grave or are destroyed somehow. The bodies of dead Christians will be brought back together with those souls and spirits that are already gone into the heavenlies.

At the same time, those of us who are alive and remain at the Rapture will be caught up to meet Him in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). In 1 Corinthians 15:51-53, it says that in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, we will be changed. Our bodies will be glorified, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, and we will have a body like Jesus Christ. Our glorified body, soul, and spirit will be taken into the heavenlies, and that is how we will live throughout eternity.

Jimmy DeYoung was a prophecy teacher and journalist who travelled the country and the world educating the Body of Christ of the future events foretold in God’s prophetic Word. His goal was to equip Christians with the knowledge and understanding of what God’s Word says will happen someday soon, so that they can make better decisions today. Dr. DeYoung went home to be with his Savior on August 15, 2021.
