Alexander Hamilton – July 1, 1791

Experience the American dream with today’s Patriot of the Past interview. I’m your host, John Gillespie.

It’s July 1, 1791. I’m with Alexander Hamilton, Secretary of the Treasury under President Washington. I’m at the opening of the First Bank of the United States.

JG: “Mr. Hamilton, this must be a proud day for you.”

AH: “Yes, Mr. Gillespie, this bank gives our young country the financial stability we need and the respectability we desire to help expand our economy.”

While many believe Hamilton’s economic policies were remarkably effective, many Jeffersonians opposed him because they believe his policies were advocating too large of a central government.

John and Jan Gillespie are the founders of the Rawhide Boys’ Ranch; they have fostered 351 teenagers and wrote the book Our 351 Sons; they have also assisted numerous churches in developing youth programs and expanding their total church ministries. After running for U.S. Senate, John founded 1776 American Dream, which exists to demonstrate the vision of our founding fathers and help our generation of youth passionately embrace those values.
