It’s October 17, 1777. I’m with General Horatio Gates. We just witnessed a resounding American victory at the Battle of Saratoga.
JG: “General Gates, congratulations on your outstanding victory! What agreement have you just made with the British?”
HG: “Mr. Gillespie, the British have agreed on their honor to leave Boston and go back to London with 5,000 Redcoats, and to never set foot on American soil again.”
The Revolutionary War continued a few more years, but with 5,000 less British.
