Margaret Hill Morris – December 11, 1776

Experience the American dream with today’s Patriot of the Past interview. I’m your host, John Gillespie.

It’s December 11, 1776. I’m in Burlington, New Jersey, with Quaker Margaret Hill Morris.

JG: “Mrs. Morris, what was it like when the Hessian soldiers took over Burlington?”

MHM: “Mr. Gillespie, it was horrible! The British and the Hessians have been raping the women and killing innocent civilians. Many women and children have left New Jersey, but I will stay to help feed the suffering soldiers and fight for freedom.”

Margaret continued to hide and feed patriots throughout the American Revolution.

After running for U.S. Senate, John founded 1776 American Dream, which exists to demonstrate the vision of our founding fathers and help our generation of youth passionately embrace those values.
