John Adams – July 2, 1776

Experience the American dream with today’s Patriot of the Past interview. I’m your host, John Gillespie.

It’s July 2, 1776. I’m at Independence Hall, Philadelphia, with John Adams, the voice of independence.

JG: “Mr. Adams, why is everyone so excited about the vote that just took place?”

JA: “Mr. Gillespie, the Continental Congress has just voted this July 2 to declare our united colonies as free and independent states from England. This day will be celebrated by succeeding generations as a day of deliverance and devotion to God Almighty.”

The Fourth of July became the day celebrated throughout America as a joyous reminder of freedom, and how truly blessed the United States of America is.

John and Jan Gillespie are the founders of the Rawhide Boys’ Ranch; they have fostered 351 teenagers and wrote the book Our 351 Sons; they have also assisted numerous churches in developing youth programs and expanding their total church ministries. After running for U.S. Senate, John founded 1776 American Dream, which exists to demonstrate the vision of our founding fathers and help our generation of youth passionately embrace those values.
