Here’s a disturbing legal contradiction in New Hampshire. William Kelly was sentenced to 80 years in prison after being convicted of murdering his girlfriend and her unborn child. The baby was between 35 and 37 weeks old. Under New Hampshire law, that unborn child was legally recognized as a victim of murder.
And that raises an obvious question: if an unborn child is a victim when someone else kills him or her, why is that same child not a victim when the mother chooses an abortion?
New Hampshire’s law actually makes this contradiction explicit. It recognizes the unborn child as a victim of homicide, while specifically exempting abortion from that protection.
