State Senator Exits Party

Another politician has exited the Democrat Party.  Last month Nebraska State Senator Mike McDonnell was censored by his own party for being a pro-life Christian.  McDonnell who’d been a Democrat for forty years said this about how Party officials reacted to his position, “Douglas County Democrats instead of respecting it, they decided to punish it.”  These officials could use some mentoring on how to be tolerant and inclusive.  Jane Kleeb, Nebraska Democrat chair, said the issue wasn’t about his pro-life and religious views, but then she said it really was.  Keep stated that her Party “will continue to stand up for reproductive freedom and the human rights of the [gay] community.”  McDonnell’s move gives Republicans a veto-proof majority in the single legislative chamber.
