Fast Facts: Bees – Part II

Welcome to Fast Facts with Reasons for Hope! I’m Carl Kerby and, today, we’re talking about the bee!

Two bee or not two bee, that is the question!

When it comes to math, the bee has us beat! It even makes Newton and Einstein look like rookies.

The fact is, God built the bee with a super-computing navigation system – something evolution cannot explain!

Imagine you have to visit nine stores in nine different locations. How do you figure out the best route with the shortest distance between them? Garmin? Siri? MapQuest?

Well, the bee doesn’t have a smartphone… and doesn’t need one! It always figures out the best route with the shortest distance between flowers with no problem. It also uses the sun as a compass, just like the Vikings did!

“That’s great!” you say, “But, what does it do when it’s cloudy?”

Check this out! In order for the bee to navigate when the sun is not visible, it has very special photoreceptors that will find the sun’s place in the sky even when it’s overcast. Talk about super-cool!

Until next time, stay bold!
