Do you know what the smallest terrestrial mammal on the planet is?
Here are a couple of hints: It weighs in at a whopping two grams (that’s the same as two paperclips) and is an inch and a half long!
This creature may be small, but it’s mighty. Perhaps, that’s why William Shakespeare used it to describe one of his most famous characters?
That’s right, we’re talking about the shrew!
The shrew is found on every continent except Australia.
It has a very short lifespan of only 1 to 3 years, but this little guy makes up for the short amount of time with an amazingly busy life.
The shrew will have up to forty babies every YEAR. While that sounds like it might be a problem, it is actually perfectly designed by God to help keep the insect population under control.
