From major cities to rural communities, record violence is taking place in the U.S.  Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love, witnessed 750 shootings during the summer of 2022.  Just a couple of weeks ago, the Daily Wire referred to Philadelphia as not only being the birthplace of liberty, but now is a cesspool of murder.

According to the Metropolitan Crime Commission, the city of New Orleans has been declared the murder capital of the U.S. for the first half of 2022.

Fox News reported that there were 5 dead in a North Carolina shooting including an off-duty police officer.  A suspect is in custody.

Western Journal reported that 2 fathers shot each other’s daughters amidst a road rage gun fight.

In addition to the shootings, murders, knifings, car jackings, reckless driving and vandalism, there’s also the epidemic of child sex crimes with one arrest per day so far this year with nearly 270 public educators arrested on child sex related crimes in the first 9 months of 2022.

Why is this happening and how can it be stopped?  Joining Jim to provide some answers was Pastor Curtis McMiller, the pastor of Heritage Baptist Church in Kenosha.  He’s the speaker on the radio program, Answer the Call which airs on WVCY-FM.

Why is this happening in our society?  Pastor McMiller explained 5 reasons including:

  • A departure from purity which has moved us away from righteousness.
  • The delay in punishment. (Ecclesiastes 8:11)
  • The depravity of politicians. (Proverbs 29:12)
  • The dereliction of parents.
  • The disconnect of certain preachers/pastors when it comes to the Word of God.

The world thinks the problem is social/economic injustice or lack of gun control.  Do these excuses have any merit?  What about the biblical solutions?  Pastor McMiller discussed 3 including:

  • Getting back to the Word of God.
  • We need to be willing to work.
  • We need a witness; those who will boldly stand up for what’s right.

Hear him expound on all of this, and find out how you can make a difference, when you review this edition of Crosstalk.
