Dr. David Stevens is the Chief Executive Officer of the Christian Medical & Dental Association, the nation’s largest faith-based organization of doctors. Dr. Stevens is a spokesman for more than 15,000 doctors. He is Board Certified in Family Practice and has participated in many medical missions trips.

Dr. Stevens noted that marijuana goes back thousands of years and historically you can read about its existence in places such as China, Egypt and Greece. It’s a psycho-active herb; a gateway drug that often leads to the use of stronger drugs. It affects the mind, the respiratory system and the immune system. In addition, it contains over 400 active substances that can lead users to develop cancer.

Instead of openly trying to convince people that it should be used recreationally, proponents are now trying to put a veneer of compassion on marijuana and claim that it can safely be used as a medicinal product. Is this just a ruse by the pro-marijuana lobby to legalize its use and therefore make it more easily obtainable by those who have no intent of using it for medical reasons?
