Welcome!
I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re talking about the Greatest Commandment again.
In Mark 12:30, Jesus stated that the greatest commandment is to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’.” (ESV)
But what does loving God with all your STRENGTH mean?
Well, in essence, it’s the idea of emptying ourselves — every ounce of our energy and ability — for the cause of Christ because we love Him. It means we wholeheartedly use our time, talents, and treasures to serve the living God.
As Charles Spurgeon said, “[W]e are to love him with all our strength, that is, actively. I am to throw my whole soul into the worship and adoration of God. I am not to keep back a single hour, or a single farthing of my wealth, or a single talent that I have, or a single atom of strength, bodily or mental, from the worship of God.” (Spurgeon, Charles Haddon. The First and Great Commandment. Sermon No. 309, Metropolitan Tabernacle, Newington, April 1, 1860. The Spurgeon Library, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary)
Now, why is apologetics important for believers? We’ll discuss that another time.
