Fruit of the Spirit (Part 9)

Welcome!

I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re talking about The Fruit of the Spirit again.

According to a Marketplace-Edison Research Poll, around half of American workers surveyed say they’ve been yelled at by coworkers — and over a third of them admit to yelling at coworkers themselves! Well, so much for the idea of being a “kinder, gentler nation!” (see Edison Research. Marketplace – Edison Research Poll 2019. Edison Research, 23 Dec. 2019)

Although GENTLENESS may be uncommon in many parts of the world, God produces it in the hearts of His people to make them more like Jesus. GENTLENESS — far from being a sign of weakness — is a mastery over one’s passions and emotions as a person responds to life’s challenges carefully, conscientiously, and Christ-like.

As John MacArthur said, gentleness, “ has nothing to do with weakness, timidity, indifference, or cowardice . . .  Meekness is power under control. Biblical gentleness is power under the control of God.” (MacArthur, John. The Strength of Gentleness. Grace to You, 16 June 1991)

And what else should we know about the Fruit of the Spirit? We’ll discuss that another time.
