Wisdom

Welcome!

I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re talking about the virtue of wisdom.

According to research cited by Virginia Tech University, “an average American makes around 35,000 decisions each day. These decisions range from the mundane–what color shirt to wear–to the important–whether or not to be vaccinated.” (Madan, Shilpa. “New Research Reveals That Our Choices May Be Making Us More Individualistic.” Pamplin College of Business, Virginia Tech, 20 Sept. 2021) That’s a lot of decisions!

And although a person can have a vast amount of knowledge, it takes WISDOM to make good decisions. You see, KNOWLEDGE is simply the accumulation of facts, but the virtue of WISDOM is knowing how to apply knowledge in the right way. And that’s important!

In fact, Proverbs 4:7 says, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom.” (KJV)

As Charles Spurgeon said, “To know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater fools for it . . . But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom.” (Spurgeon, Charles H. BrainyQuote, https://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/charles_spurgeon_121393)

Now, what other virtue should be important to believers? We’ll discuss that another time.
