Welcome!
I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re talking about the virtue of justice.
Recent protests by organizations like Black Lives Matter and Antifa are evidence that not everyone in our country thinks there’s equal justice under the law.
But while the modern social justice ideology is woke, the Bible tells us that true justice comes from helping the downtrodden — the widows, the orphans, and the poor — while simultaneously presenting truth and promoting righteousness. Justice is not about lashing out at those who have supposedly wronged you or violently protesting because your feelings got hurt.
As theologian N. T. Wright said, “If what we want is God’s justice . . . we will do better to get entirely out of the way and let God do his own work, rather than supposing our burst of anger (which will most likely have . . . wounded pride, malice and envy) will somehow help God do what needs to be done.” (Wright, N. T. Quoted in Goodreads. https://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/38932.N_T_Wright)
Now, what other virtues should be important to believers? We’ll discuss them another time.
