Welcome!
I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re talking about family time again.
As crazy as it may sound, a survey by Onepoll found that parents, on average, spend more time on their phones on a daily basis THAN THEY DO WITH THEIR OWN KIDS! (see Swns. “Most Parents Confess to Spending More Time on Their Phones Than Their Kids: Poll.” New York Post, 26 July 2023, nypost.com/2023/07/26/most-parents-confess-to-spending-more-time-on-their-phones-than-their-kids-poll)
Look, kids need time — lots of time — with their parents for their own personal development. In fact, according to the journal Frontiers in Psychology, “The time spent with parents is a crucial factor in the growth of children, and children’s well-being is an important indicator of their mental health.” (Li, Dongxu, and Xi Guo. “The Effect of the Time Parents Spend With Children on Children’s Well-being.” Frontiers in Psychology, vol. 14, Apr. 2023, https://doi.org/10.3389/fpsyg.2023.1096128)
You see, God designed parents to raise and nurture their kids by BEING WITH THEM! In Deuteronomy 6, parents were to talk to their kids about God when they sat in their houses, walked to places, lay down, and got up. For parents today, that may seem like a huge time commitment — but it’s one that God will readily bless.
Now, what else should believers know about family time? We’ll discuss that another time.
