Welcome!
Today, we’re talking about character.
In his book Hunger for Reality, George Verwer argues American Christians suffer from “a major disorder—a sort of spiritual schizophrenia” in which our spiritual lives never affect the rest of our lives. But biblical Christianity is just the opposite — God works in the lives of His people so they can LIVE OUT their faith on a daily basis.
GODLINESS is the idea of letting God so permeate our being that we not only walk closely to Him, but we also reflect His character and ways. This gives glory to the Lord and draws people to Him.
As Chuck Swindoll said, “Few things are more infectious than a godly lifestyle. The people you rub shoulders with everyday need that kind of challenge. Not prudish. Not preachy . . . Just honest to goodness, bone-deep, non-hypocritical integrity.” (The Art of Persuasion. insight.org/resources/daily-devotional/individual/the-art-of-persuasion2)
And what other aspects of character are important? We’ll discuss those another time.
