Knowing God’s Will (Part 2)

Welcome!

Today, we’re talking about God’s will.

Scripture tells believers God’s will for our daily lives, but what about God’s will about specific situations — like what career to pursue or who to marry?

Well, God gave us an additional tool to help discern His will — PRAYER!

Charles Hummel said, “Here is the secret of Jesus’ life and work for God: He prayerfully waited for His Father’s instructions and for the strength to follow them . . . He discerned the Father’s will day by day in a life of prayer.” As believers, we should follow Christ’s example and ask God’s guidance for each step of life through prayer — seeking to know God’s plan for our lives and not just demanding our own way.

As Timothy Keller said, “The basic purpose of prayer is not to bend God’s will to mine, but to mold my will into His.”

And what else should we know about God’s will? We’ll discuss that another time.
