The Importance of Biblical Literacy (Part 7)

Welcome!

Today, we’re talking about biblical literacy.

We’ve all heard the heartbreaking statistics about American youth straying from Christian values. This results, of course, from not knowing God’s Word.

As Arnold Cole and Pamela Ovwigho of the Center for Bible Engagement said, “Without a firm grasp of the Bible, nurtured through daily reading or listening, we weaken our ability to defend the faith we claim, less confident to share that faith with others, and more vulnerable to falling prey to false teachings.”

But did you know that consistent Bible reading actually REVERSES that trend?

In its fascinating study, the CBE found that people who read the Bible at least four days per week are 57% less likely to get drunk, 61% less likely to view pornography, 68% less likely to engage in premarital sex, and 74% less likely to gamble.

Being biblically literate truly helps us live transformed lives.

And why else is biblical literacy important? We’ll discuss that another time.
