Racism (Part 1)

Welcome!

Today, we’re talking about racism.

From politics to entertainment to sports, RACISM is a point of tension today. But what does the Bible really say about it?

Well, Scripture teaches that all human beings — regardless of race — were created in God’s image. In fact, all races descended from one couple — Adam and Eve!

That’s what Paul meant in Acts 17:26 when he said, “And he [God] made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place …” (ESV)

Because all races came from Adam, we’re all created equal in God’s eyes and should treat each other as such.

As Alveda King, Martin Luther King, Jr.’s niece, said, “Racism springs from the lie that certain human beings are less than fully human. It’s a self-centered falsehood that corrupts our minds into believing we are right to treat others as we would not want to be treated.”

And what else does Scripture say about racism? We’ll discuss that another time.
