The Importance of Home Missions (Part 1)

Welcome!

Today, we’re talking about the importance of home missions.

The idea of “home missions” — local outreaches like Gospel rescue missions — may seem like a throwback to the past, but increased substance abuse, domestic abuse, and homelessness in society still makes these home missions important.

But just HOW IMPORTANT?

Well, ask former Major General Jack Briggs. After a sterling career in the Air Force, Briggs decided to make a difference in GOD’s ARMY by becoming the leader of the Springs Rescue Mission in Colorado. Briggs said, “I knew that one day God would ask me to serve and that I needed to obey; and it’s an honor to do that.”

Briggs’ example challenges all of us to serve the hurting here at home with the love of Jesus.

As Charles Spurgeon said, “He who does not serve God where he is would not serve God anywhere else.”

But do home missions really do any good? We’ll discuss that another time.
