Welcome!
Today, we’re talking about the Christian and community service.
TRIVIA TIME — Did you know there’s such a thing as NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK? It began in 1974 and takes place every April.
Now, as believers, we know we’re to meet the SPIRITUAL needs of our community, but what about their PHYSICAL needs?
Interestingly, in Galatians 2, Paul records his visit with Peter, James, and John in Jerusalem, recounting his missionary endeavors for Christ. They gave Paul “the right hand of fellowship” but made one request — that he remember the poor.
You see, God’s people are to share Christ’s message—both with good words AND good works.
As John Wesley said, “Do all the good you can by all the means you can in all the places you can at all the times you can to all the people you can as long as ever you can.”
And what else should Christians think about community service? We’ll discuss that another time.
