Stewardship (Part 2)

Welcome!

Today, we’re talking about stewardship.

An old Gospel song by Stuart Hamblin says, “The things of earth will dim and lose their value / If we recall they’re borrowed for a while.”

Stewardship means being faithful with the possessions God entrusts us with, realizing they’re “on loan” to us in this life. And how we view material goods — especially money — reveals our true priorities.

In fact, Richard Halverson said, “Jesus Christ said more about money than about any other single thing because, when it comes to a man’s real nature, money is of first importance. Money is an exact index to a man’s true character. All through Scripture there is an intimate correlation between the development of a man’s character and how he handles his money.”

The $64,000 question — Do we LOVE money or simply view it as a TOOL for doing God’s work in this world?

And what else does Scripture say about stewardship? We’ll discuss that another time.
