Stewardship (Part 1)

Welcome!

Today, we’re talking about stewardship.

What is STEWARDSHIP? Well, it’s the idea of being faithful with what we have.

In fact, the Oxford English Dictionary defines STEWARDSHIP as the “responsible use of resources, [especially] money, time, and talents, in the service of God.”

You know, it’s been said that everything we have is just borrowed for a while. God does provide for our needs in the world, but He has also ENTRUSTED us with the things we own — they are for His glory, not just our own self-gratification.

As Randy Alcorn said, “Stewardship isn’t a subcategory of the Christian life. Stewardship is the Christian life. After all, what is stewardship except that God has entrusted to us life, time, talents, money, possessions, family, and his grace? In each case, he evaluates how we regard what he has entrusted to us and what we do with it.”

And what else does the Bible say about stewardship? We’ll discuss that another time.
