WORLDVIEW: Authority Established by God

Today, we’re talking about worldviews. “I don’t care what you say anymore, this is my life” was a line in a well-known song from the 1970s, one that captured the rebellious attitudes toward authority during the hippie era. That spirit of rebellion seems to be reemerging in our current society.

But is authority really as bad as pop culture wants us to believe? Well, God doesn’t think so! Romans 13:1 says, “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.”

In other words, God established authority – whether in government, the church, or the home. That doesn’t mean that every authority will always be good or fair, but it does mean that authority serves a good purpose – keeping order and restraining evil in a fallen world.

What view of God is most common in today’s world? We’ll discuss that another time. For more information, go to www.hopetools.net.  Stay bold!
