Can Apologetics Be Used in Evangelism?

You might ask, “Carl, why is apologetics important? Isn’t it enough for me just to be saved and serve in my church?”

Actually, the answer is NO!

Jesus said in Matthew 5:13 that believers are to be the “salt of the earth.” Now, how much good is salt when it is stuck in the shaker? NOT MUCH! It might look pretty in the shaker, but to do some good it has to get out of the shaker and onto some food.

God’s plan for us is to grow in our faith for the purpose of sharing the Gospel with a needy world. But the world we live in is increasingly ignorant of, and sometimes hostile to, the Christian faith. In order to influence the culture for Christ, we have to understand the world’s mindset and give them credible, compelling reasons for our hope. Some people have called apologetics PRE-EVANGELISM. Apologetics by itself may not save anyone, but it can open a door for us to share the truth of salvation through Christ.

There’s another reason that apologetics is important which we’ll address at another time. Until then, find more apologetic resources at debunked.org. Stay bold!
