A federal judge in Tennessee recently ruled a newly enacted state law regarding drag shows is unconstitutional. The law intended to prohibit drag shows in public places where children might easily be present. The judge said the law is “overly broad,” encourages “discrimination” and violates the free speech of the performers. Technically, the judge’s decision affects only a single Tennessee county, but certainly sends a broader message. Supporters of the law are considering an appeal.

Tennessee lawmakers were trying to protect children. They weren’t trying to completely shut these shows down. These sleazy performances should not be allowed in public libraries, public parks, or any place children frequent. Parents need to be on high alert across Wisconsin this summer to avoid exposing their children to this perversion masquerading as free speech.
