Scientists have discovered that enormous quantities of water can be held deep inside the Earth within minerals under tremendous pressure and high temperatures. The discovery reveals that the Earth contains far more hidden water than is found at its surface and provides a striking example of how much remains to be discovered about the planet beneath our feet.
