Ben Everson is a preacher, a musician and an encourager at heart. Ben has ministered in evangelistic crusades, Bible colleges and Christian schools, Bible and missionary conferences, camp meetings and other settings.  Ben’s lifelong mission is to see the local church refreshed and believers renewed through Christ-centered music and preaching.  He and Frank Garlock have co-authored We Need Revival: Biblical & Practical Observations.  He is also the author of the book, The Revival Nobody Wants.

Through the course of time certain words have been hijacked.  For example, the word “gay,” which used to mean “merry” or “lively,” has been changed to refer to a softened word for homosexuality.  Then there was the word “rainbow,” which we know is a promise from God to never destroy mankind by means of a worldwide flood, but it is being used by those who are trying to make it a symbol to promote sexual perversion.

You may not be aware of this, but there are additional words being hijacked today that were directly related to the church.  This includes the words, “revival” and “awakening.”  These words describe something God was doing in the hearts of His people, but now they have been co-opted by certain movements that want nothing to do with God or the church.

Speaking of revival, we say we want it, but when we fully understand what revival is, many turn their backs on it.

This is why true revival must be defined.  Is revival just an emotion or a series of evangelistic meetings?  Is it a return to the days of Andy Griffith/Leave it to Beaver?  Is it patriotism or the social gospel?  How much is prayer a factor in all of this?  Does revival involve something that people have to admit?

These questions, along with other aspects, are covered so that you can know the difference between true revival and the counterfeits of the world.
