The Problem of Suffering (Part 3)

Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!

Today, we’re talking about the problem of suffering.

Why do people suffer? Well, if we’re honest, we’ll admit that sometimes we suffer because of US!

After all, we live by the law of “sowing and reaping” in our fallen world – we’re tempted to sin, we fall, and then we suffer the consequences. In fact, society’s full of people in prison for committing crimes, people who’ve been fired for being poor workers, and people who are friendless for just not getting along with others.

But for believers, God has a PURPOSE even in the consequences we bring on ourselves. You see, the Bible teaches that God chastens His people when we sin to purify us and make us more like Him.

As James Aughey once said, “God brings men into deep waters not to drown them, but to cleanse them.”

How else should believers view suffering? We’ll discuss that another time.
