The Positive Influence of the Church in Society (Part 7)

Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!

Today, we’re talking about the positive influence of the Church.

Research suggests that those who attend church generally have happier marriages, but according to findings by The Institute for Family Studies, couples attending church TOGETHER also have much better relationship QUALITY than their secular counterparts who don’t attend church at all.

Why would this be the case?

Interestingly, according to Psychology Today, the top predictor of a person’s satisfaction in a relationship is that person’s perception of the other’s COMMITMENT to the relationship. In other words, if we sense our spouse is committed to our marriage, we tend to feel more satisfied with the quality of the relationship. And that brings us back to the influence of the Church – a place that helps support our marital commitments and helps us to be better husbands and wives through the teaching of God’s Word.

How else does the Church benefit society? We’ll discuss that another time.
