Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!
Today, we’re talking about the positive influence of the Church.
The idea of church being a “life-saver” is no joke!
According to research by Vanderbilt University professor Marino Bruce, those who attend church decrease their mortality risk by a whopping 55%! In contrast, the study showed that people who never go to church have DOUBLE the risk of dying prematurely as their church-going counterparts.
Why?
Well, for starters Church is typically a place that encourages believers to live godly lives and avoid vices that harm us physically, like substance abuse and sexual promiscuity. On top of that, Church is a place of hope and refreshment, where Christians can be encouraged and uplifted as they serve God together.
As Proverbs 3:7-8 says, “… fear the LORD and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones” (NKJV). And how else does the Church benefit society? We’ll discuss that another time.
