Hospitality and the Gospel

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.

Are you one of those people who get excited to host over the holidays? Does that fill your heart with joy? If I can be honest, I am not naturally one of those people. But you know what? It is an incredible gift that God calls us—both introverts and extroverts—to be hospitable to others by making time for them. It’s through our lives that the people closest to us can see Jesus; and often times, it gives us opportunities to share the greatest gift of all—the Good News of the Gospel. So how do we begin? Simply, start with people you know. Invite a few friends to a dinner party, a co-worker for a cup of coffee, or some neighbors to join you for a Bible study in your home. Be open and real. Share your story, and listen to theirs. Allow them to ask questions. Be honest if you don’t know the answers, but promise to follow up later. Share the Gospel in a simple, easy-to-understand manner.
