Pregnant Olympians

Aside from the opening ceremony I enjoy watching the world’s best athletes compete for the cherished gold, silver and bronze.  The only way to make it better is to combine the Olympics with babies.  And that’s what two Olympians did.  An Egyptian fencer who took time away from medical school to compete is seven months pregnant.  She said, “What appears to you as two players on the podium, they were actually three!”  A six and a half months pregnant archer from Azerbaijan said “I felt my baby kick me before I shot this last arrow, and then I shot a ten.  I felt I was not fighting alone but fighting together with my baby.”  Check out my weekly blog, The Latest where I talk about the history of pregnant Olympians.  Find it at lifeissues.org.
