Fruit of the Spirit (Part 5)

Welcome!

I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re talking about the Fruit of the Spirit again.

People today just can’t wait. In fact, the management group Waitwhile found in its research that nearly “67% of the consumers surveyed . . . report feeling impatient, bored, annoyed, frustrated, or disrespected when they have to wait,” whether the wait was at a store, the airport, the bank, or the doctor. (see Waitwhile. Consumer Survey: The State of Waiting in Line 2023. Waitwhile, 2023)

In contrast, PATIENCE is the Fruit of the Spirit that God works in our hearts as believers that not only restrains us from acting out in the flesh during frustrating situations but also molds our character so that we can respond to the delays in life with calmness and contentment.

As author John Ortberg notes, “Biblically, waiting is not just something we have to do until we get what we want. Waiting is part of the process of becoming what God wants us to be.” (Ortberg, John. The Me I Want to Be: Becoming God’s Best Version of You. Zondervan, 2010)

Now what other attribute does the Fruit of the Spirit produce in believers? We’ll discuss that another time.
